For 11 years the existing easyJet home at London Luton Airport had served easyJet well. However the substantial continued growth required easyJet to expand its operations and the supporting infrastructure from a collection of buildings into a new home. The building chosen was a three bay aircraft hangar which needed full refurbishment. This would provide a vast open plan environment with room for all support staff under one roof as well as room for maintaining three aircraft in state of the art facilities. Working in co-operation with a team of consultants and contractors, Wagstaff were asked to deliver and install over 500 workstations plus furniture for supporting areas, all within a restricted timescale and a tight budget.

The Wagstaff Solution

EasyJet’s fundamental culture required products that would meet the individual needs of staff whilst maintaining the everybody gets the same ground rules. All desks were specified with adjustment and chairs weren upgraded to provide each staff member full adjustment to meet their ergonomic needs. Freestanding screens and mobile pedestals ensured that aesthetic height levels were maintained, in sympathy with the open plan feel. Bespoke solutions fulfilled some of the specialist needs such as the network management centre and restaurant. Working in co-operation with the construction team, our flexible installation crew enabled a smoother program of installation.
